“YOU’LL REMEMBER every hole after you have played Coppinwood,” says Tom Fazio, architect of this and more than 125 courses that have won countless awards, including an unprecedented one-year sweep of Best New Public, Private, and Resort Course in Golf Digest’s rankings. “You have big spaces, elevation changes and tree cover. Then the client tells us to build the best course we can. How good is that?”

Fazio knows good. His legendary designs include The River Course at Kiawah Island; Shadow Creek in Las Vegas; Florida’s Black Diamond Ranch, Emerald Dunes, and World Woods; two courses at Texas’s Barton Creek; and three Pinehurst courses.

He is also the consulting architect for Pine Valley, Oakmont, Winged Foot, Merion, Riviera, and many others. Fourteen of his original courses – far more than any other architect – are listed among Golf Digest’s ranking of “America’s 100 Greatest Courses.”

Fazio’s courses blend well with their surroundings; every swale, bunker, and bend is carefully created to emulate the natural landscape around them. He describes his goal as “blending art and science to produce beautiful places people can enjoy.”

In Coppinwood, he has created a work of playable art that its members can enjoy time and time again.
